Pre-Boot Review
Before we boot up for the first time, it is best we check everything over one last time. Taking time to ensure everything was done properly is well worth it. If you feel you may have missed something, go over our lessons one more time before continuing. If you feel good, go through our list below then proceed to our next lesson.
Make sure:
- All jumpers are properly set.
- Power supply is connected to the motherboard.
- Your Heat Sink/Processor Fan is mounted securely. (do not remove, just check it)
- The power lead for the Processor Fan is connected to the motherboard.
- The RAM is secure and properly installed.
- The Floppy Drive is connected to the motherboard via FDD cable.
- The Hard Drive(s) and CD-ROM drive(s) are connected to the motherboard via IDE cables.
- The Hard Drive(s) and CD-ROM drive(s) have their jumpers set properly.
- The Floppy Drive, Hard Drive and CD-ROM drive all secure and connected to the power supply.
- All components are secure and installed properly.
- Case fan is secure and connected to the motherboard or power supply.
- Your monitor, speakers, keyboard, mouse..etc are connected in the back.
- Everything is plugged into a surge protector which is plugged into an outlet.
