Lesson 17: How to Find a Cheap LCD Monitor
Notes we've taken concerning the Monitor:
- VGA Port on motherboard
Step 1: What to Look For
The days of expensive LCD Widescreen monitors are gone! You can purchase a 19" Widescreen LCD for under $100 now if you know where to look.
Specs to look for:
- 5ms Response Rate or lower
- High Contrast Ratio
For the average user, this is really all the important specs to look for.
Step 2: Finding a Monitor
Computer Hardware --> Monitors --> Size --> Widescreen
What size should you get? It's really up to you. You can get a 19" Widescreen LCD for about the same as a 17" just make sure you get one with a connection that matches the connection on your motherboard or get an adapter.
HannsĀ·G Black 19" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor - $99.99
- Has a VGA connection
- Has a 5ms Response Time
- Has built in speakers
This is a great price for a 19" widescreen monitor. Not only that but it has GREAT reviews. Even though it has built in speakers, I wouldn't recommend using them as your main speakers. Generally, the built-in speakers are very low quality. In the next lesson we will find a pair of cheap speakers.
