Lesson 18: How to Find Cheap Speakers
Step 1: What to Look For
When it comes to buying cheap speakers, it's hit or miss. Sometimes you can find a really great set of speakers for under $10, othertimes those $10 speakers work for a week or they don't work at all.
Depending on the type of sound card or integrated audio you have, will determine what type of speaker setup to get. For the average user, a 2-Piece setup will work just fine. You may even want to get a 3-Piece for the subwoofer if you want to add some more depth to your sound. You can usually find some for under $20.
For those who prefer full surround sound and have the sound card to support it, you can easily pick up a Surround Sound speaker set for under $100.
Step 2: Finding Speakers
Computer Hardware --> Speakers --> Computer Speakers --> 2-Piece
I found two decent cheap 2-Piece speakers:
Aopen SPK-215 2-Piece Computer Speakers - $9.99
--------------------------------------------------------------
Logitech S120 2.3 Watts Speaker System - $13.99
Since the monitor we found in the previous lesson already has speakers built in, you may choose to use those instead if you don't care about low quality sound.

Here are several tips to consider before purchasing speakers:
- If your monitor has built-in speakers and you don't care about low audio quality, use them!
- Reuse your old speakers. Sometimes you don't need to upgrade, if your old speakers work fine, don't replace them.
- Ask your friends or your tech department at work if they have any old speakers you can take. Sometimes people are getting rid of perfectly good speakers because they are upgrading, this is a great opportunity to take them off their hands.
